do you believe our civil rights are under attack in southern Ohio?
Radical Left or Simply Thomas Jefferson
Today we love to engage in the ideology that there is a real left and a real right in our nation
and while there is plenty of difference in our present political mindset and policies, in many ways, to many our nation is pretty centrist no matter how its viewed...as by many around the world...
....so, it may be suprising but to quote my favorite American political thinker of all time, tommy j,
its not actually american to think in terms of party spirit and the division of super large political wings which dominate the people's minds...
at least in whole....
but neither did tommy j believe in standing armies, true corporate or monetary interests ownership of any part of the national political agenda and/or policy making firmament of D.C. nor did he in the end, even like the idea of federal courts which were not accountable to the people
and he especially did not believe that our form of government was to last past any one generation, if it became extremely detrimental in spirit or tone to the rights and liberties and the pursuit of happiness of the people, as a whole...
today...such a thought would this be labeled radical or perfectly left of sane?...it may even be considered terrorististic or a 'threat to national security' to just believe that such power is constitutionally retained to the people themselves...
i wonder...if he truly meant to be as radical as he was...
but to the author of the american declaration of independence, such practical but sweeping retained rights were not only normative and a expected political reservation of ultimate power to the people, but it was actually expected to be believed and deeply adhered to by every new generation of americans, so they could retain the right to censor their government, not the other way around
[as Bush/Cheney and our local state republicans have forgotten including our own Ohio King George V, who seems to running "on low radar" these days....]
Radical views indeed....if we are to believe the most expressive and singular Founding Father and Author of the American Declaration of Independence ....that is...
